In the spring of 2018, the Town of Carleton Place, the Carleton Place and District Chamber of Commerce, and the Downtown BIA decided that, after using the current 'Meet Me on the Mississippi' branding for a decade, it was time to evaluate its effectiveness and determine if it still resonates with residents.

The Town received a Provincial grant to undertake this project and retained Cat's Cove Communications to meet with community stakeholders to assess the current community climate and to develop a strategy to move the Carleton Place brand and our brand promise forward. This work includes the messaging and how we use it both visually and in print.

After conducting more than 100 interviews and surveys, the data revealed that civic pride and engagement, as well as attracting new residents and tourists were key priorities for the marketing strategy.

The concepts were presented to Town Council on September 11, 2018, and Council provided their feedback.
