Arts Carleton Place
Arts Carleton Place is a non-profit organization made up of dedicated volunteers from the Lanark area. The organization features an online database that features local artists, and also offer an Awards Programme for graduating high school students looking to further their education in the arts. Arts Carleton Place even offers one award to emerging/developing artists to enhance their education, creativity and knowledge and an established artist award for the development of the artistic community project. The Express Yourself Fund has been established for children/youth that are interested in pursuing an interest in the arts.
Arts Carleton Place officially took flight in the fall of 2005 and continues to recognize, celebrate and promote the unique artistic activity in the vicinity. With an eye to "empower artists and area residents through the arts" this busy group promises to raise awareness of the arts, develop partnerships within the community and identify and develop the area's artistic capacity to its full potential.
Arts Carleton Place has pledged to build on the power of the arts to invigorate the community while contributing to the economic development of the town. The key to sustainability is in establishing the network of funding which will feed the arts in all its many forms into the future. Arts Carleton Place organizes Sounds of Downtown, the main annual fundraiser, promoting musical arts in local restaurants.

In June 2009, Arts Carleton Place and the Chamber of Commerce combined to launch the Carleton Place Visitors Centre & Gallery – a welcoming train station for tourists and residents alike. Visit this stunning new gallery featuring local artists, writers and artisans located at 132 Coleman St. Art patrons can purchase tickets for upcoming artistic events and attractions. |
