An Important Change for the 2018 Municipal/School Board Trustee Election Nomination Period –  When and where can I file a nomination paper for the position of Mayor, Deputy Mayor or Councillor?
An eligible elector may file a nomination paper with the Clerk during regular office hours when the Clerk’s Office is open from Tuesday, May 1, 2018 until Thursday, July 26, 2018. On Friday, July 27, 2018 which is Nomination Day, a nomination paper may be filed in the Clerk’s Office from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. The onus is on the candidate to file a complete nomination paper with the correct fee. The fee for the position of Mayor is $200.00 payable in cash, certified cheque or money order. The fee for the position of Deputy Mayor or Councillor is $100.00 payable to the Town of Carleton Place in cash, certified cheque or money order. An important change for the 2018 Municipal Election is the requirement to have 25 eligible electors from the Town of Carleton Place to endorse and sign your nomination paper when you submit the same to the Clerk.
