Musical Director: History of the Band
This group is a direct descendant of the Carleton Place Brass Band which came into existence in the late 1860's, developing into the Carleton Place Citizens' Band in the late 19th century and continuing through to the 1950's. The present incarnation of a community band was created in 1994 by 'Jack' Peckett who directed the group until 2000. The group has grown from 'The Dirty Dozen' original members to a cohesive group of 32 which performs at many community functions throughout the year. |
