Departmental Responsibilities:

The Town of Carleton Place Public Works Department is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the Town's infrastructure which consists of approximately 60 km of roads, 50 km of water main\sanitary sewer and 35 km of storm sewer, and 45 km of sidewalk and curbs.

The road network also includes all components such as traffic control signals (five in total), streetlights (approximately 900), street name and regulatory signage, bridges, trees, boulevards and storm sewer manholes, catch basins and storm water treatment systems.

The sanitary sewer collection system and water distribution system includes manholes, water valves and chambers, and fire hydrants.

The operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, wastewater pumping stations, and water tower is contracted by the Town of Carleton Place to the Ontario Clean Water Agency.
