Carleton Place Hires New Chief Administrative Officer

Mayor Louis Antonakos and Council are pleased to announce Diane Smithson has been appointed as the Town of Carleton Place’s new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), to begin in March 2018.

Diane was recruited after an extensive nationwide search by Ravenhill Group Inc. a Toronto based executive search firm specializing in municipal searches.

“Diane has a wealth of municipal experience and knowledge; she brings a fresh, forward-thinking leadership style to this role. Council is excited to work with her on advancing Carleton Place’s priorities and setting the stage for the future,” said Mayor Louis Antonakos. “I’m confident that she is just what we need and welcome Diane to her new role.”

“I look forward to working with Carleton Place’s council and staff team. The next ten years are going to be some of the most important years for the growth of this community,” said Smithson. “I am excited to be working alongside the Mayor and Council to navigate these changes for the long-term sustainability of the community.”

Diane has close to thirty years of leadership experience within municipal organizations in Ontario. She currently serves as CAO for neighbouring municipality Mississippi Mills, a position she has held since amalgamation in 1998. Under her leadership, Mississippi Mills has sustained a healthy, vibrant local economy while developing a fiscally responsible public service.
