The Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place is pleased to announce that Pascal Meunier has been hired as the new Director of Protective Services for the Town of Carleton Place and will assume his new role on July 3, 2018. Pascal was recruited through a province-wide search to replace Les Reynolds who is retiring from the position at the end of June after serving in this capacity for the past 11 years.
“I am so pleased that Chief Meunier has accepted the position of Director of Protective Services” noted Reynolds. “His knowledge and experience, coupled with the great team that have worked with me over the past 11 years will ensure that I can leave confident in the knowledge that the safety of our community and citizens is in good hands.”
“I am looking forward to working with the team in Carleton Place and continuing some of the great work of the current Director, Les Reynolds. I believe I have the skills and experience necessary to help the Department continue to evolve and grow”, says Meunier.
This position holds the title of Fire Chief, and is responsible for Emergency Management, By-law Services, and Crossing Guard portfolios. This position is also the main staff liaison between the Ontario Provincial Police and the Carleton Place Police Services Board on behalf of the Town. In addition, he will assume the role of the Town’s Community Emergency Management Coordinator (CEMC) once the current CEMC, Clerk Duncan Rogers retires at the end of December. In the meantime, he will work closely with Duncan to ensure a smooth transition of this role.
“Council is looking forward to working with Mr. Meunier as he assumes his new role with the Town”, stated Mayor Louis Antonakos. “He has a great reputation of thinking outside the box to ensure services under his control are delivered efficiently and effectively.”
Pascal has more than 24 years of progressively responsible experience within the Fire Service and brings a wealth of management experience to the position gained from his years in both the private sector and the Fire Service.
“I am pleased to welcome Pascal to the Town of Carleton Place management team! He brings extensive experience and knowledge to the position which will serve the Town well over the coming growth years”, said Diane Smithson, Chief Administrative Officer.
