The Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place invites applications for the position of Treasurer
The Town of Carleton Place is located in Eastern Ontario in Lanark County, approximately 46 kilometres west of downtown Ottawa. It is situated at the crossroads of Highway 15 and Highway 7.
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the Treasurer will oversee the Town’s financial affairs and perform the statutory duties of Treasurer. With the energy and enthusiasm to lead, motivate and manage a multi-faceted business unit you will steward the development and implementation of our $32 million operating and capital budgets. As an excellent communicator, you will provide strategic and operational advice to council and other senior managers and maintain effective relations with boards, agencies, and other stakeholders. In addition to your professional designation in accounting, you have three to five years senior leadership experience and applied knowledge of strategic business planning, municipal legislation, and best practices. In 2018, you will take the lead on upgrading the financial software for the municipality.
Summary: The Treasurer provides for the control, management and efficient and effective administration of the financial accounting and data processing functions of the Corporation in the areas of planning and budgeting, accounting, investment and fund management, asset management, tax and water utility revenue, IT, risk management, payroll and purchasing.
