Spring Curbside Leaf Collection
Spring Curbside Leaf Collection
The Public Works Department will begin curbside leaf collection starting on Monday, April 22nd, 2024. The collection will run until Friday, May 3rd. Please place leaf bags at the curb for collection and follow these guidelines:
Bags should be at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
Public Works will only accept items in paper leaf bags. Items in plastic bags will not be collected.
Bags must not exceed 15 kg.
We are appealing to residents to please be patient with Public Works staff as we do our best to collect the significant volume of bags

WHEREAS Personal Support Worker Day is held every year on May 19 to recognize the invaluable work PSWs do in our lives; and
WHEREAS PSWs are the backbone of the health system and approximately 35% of all PSWs in Ontario work in the home and community sector, delivering a range of vital services that reduce the need for more expensive hospital care, emergency room visits, or long-term care; and
WHEREAS it is important to recognize the importance of the role of Personal Support Workers who provide the utmost of care, respect, and dignity to our community’s most vulnerable and

National Day of Mourning - April 28th, 2024
Whereas, the National Day of Mourning has been recognized since April 28th, 1991 and is observed across Canada to pay our respects to the thousands of workers impacted by a workplace fatality, injury or suffered illness; and
WHEREAS, we honour the many families and friends who have been deeply affected by these tragedies; and
WHEREAS, every worker has the right to return home safe and sound at the end of each work day; and
WHEREAS, by working together with employers, workers and our health and safety partners, we can prevent worker injuries and deaths before they occur.

Emergency Preparedness Week May 5th to 11th, 2024
WHEREAS Emergency Preparedness Week is a national Awareness initiative that has taken place annually since 1996; and
WHEREAS it is an opportunity to encourage Canadians to take concrete actions to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies; and
WHEREAS the Town of Carleton Place recognizes the importance of Emergency Management in Ontario and the role of government to help secure a strong and healthy tomorrow; and
WHEREAS governments at all levels are working hard to keep Canada safe, everyone has a role to play in being prepared for an emergency.
