Library Grand Reopening

Carleton Place Public Library (101 Beckwith Street)

Everyone is invited to the Grand Reopening of the Carleton Place Public Library

It’s been a long time coming, but we’re finally ready to celebrate the Grand Reopening of the Carleton Place Public Library after a year-long renovation!

The Carleton Place Public Library Board and staff are excited to welcome the community back to 101 Beckwith Street on Monday, May 16 from 2-4pm. The event will mark the final stage of the library’s 175th Anniversary celebrations and will include an official ribbon cutting ceremony and speeches from local dignitaries followed by refreshments.

“The new interior is vibrant, accessible, and welcoming,” says library CEO Meriah Caswell. “We are thrilled to be able to officially welcome the community back to their library and want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding during this long process.”

The updated space includes new meeting rooms, a laptop bar, energy-saving LED lighting, new shelving and flooring, fun reading nooks, an environmentally friendly water bottle refilling station, a new Gender-neutral universal washroom, and an upgraded accessible ramp. It truly is a space everyone can enjoy.

The Grand Reopening celebrations will take place on the front steps of the library but there will be plenty of family-friendly activities happening inside all day. Non-perishable food or monetary donations are welcome at this event and will be shared with local charities to keep our communities strong.

Welcome back to the library!
