DESCRIPTION:Race Around the Place is Carleton Place’s own community-driven run event\, designed to bring people together in celebration of active living\, local pride\, and small-town charm. Hosted by a dedicated volunteer team\, this not-for-profit event features three distances—a Half Marathon\, 10K\, and 5K—welcoming everyone from first-time racers to seasoned athletes. The scenic routes showcase the best of Carleton Place and surrounding areas\, with a mix of historic downtown streets\, tranquil river views\, and lush trail segments. Proceeds from the race will directly support our local food bank\, The Hunger Stop\, making every stride count toward a stronger\, more connected community. \nThe event will take place on Saturday\, October 25th\, with staggered race start times to ensure a smooth experience for runners and volunteers alike. The Half Marathon will kick off at 9:00 AM\, followed by the 10K at 9:15 AM\, and the 5K at 9:30 AM. DESCRIPTION:Have you heard about the Silent Book Clubs where people meet at a public location\, chat for a few minutes\, and then read in silence for the rest of the evening? We’re doing something just as fun this fall for all those introverts out there—-and you’ll have a great place to donate your art! \nGet out of the house and “meet” some new people without the pressure of having to do more than just say hello\, and we’ll be collecting finished pieces of art to donate later this year. Join us on Tuesday\, October 28 from 6-7:30pm at the library for a night of silent art-ing. Bring along whatever you’re working on—a painting\, your sketchbook\, that blanket you’re crocheting—and do it quietly in a room full of other people who love to create\, but don’t want the pressure of having to make conversation.  Maybe it’ll happen naturally\, but expect to just “art” with us for a bit and then go home. Maybe you’ll meet a new coffee friend\, or maybe you’ll just get out of the house for a while. \nWhatever the reason\, we’d love to see you on Tuesday\, October 28th.
