SUMMARY:Home Alone Training
DESCRIPTION:We’re excited to be bringing some home alone training to young people at the library this spring! \nJoin us during the March Break for a day-long session aimed at 9-13 year olds who will learn about staying safe when home alone. This is a great prep course for being able to leave kids alone this summer. The people from 13 First Aid will be doing two courses with us this spring and providing a certificate to attendees who complete it. \nThis program teaches applicable and age-appropriate skills\, preparing participants to respond to challenges in real-world scenarios. It increases and reinforces their capacity to improve their own safety\, giving them tools to stay safe in their community or when on their own. \nMore information and FAQs can be found on their website: 13firstaid.com/homealone/ \nRegistration can be found by clicking this link below: Register Here! \nThe cost for this full day session that takes place on Saturday\, March 14\, 2026 from 10am-4pm is $70—but use the code CPKIDS10 for a 10% discount. Kids will bring a lunch\, water\, and any snacks they need\, and they’ll be supervised during the day. \nIf you have any questions\, please feel free to reach out to Heidi at hsinnett@carletonplace.ca for more information. \n13 First Aid is a Canadian Red Cross Training Partner.

SUMMARY:Paul Weber Band
DESCRIPTION:The Paul Weber Band is an Ottawa-based\, four-person\, bilingual band that performs high-energy folk tunes.   Their shows are a voyage into community stories—famous bouncer\, tales about drag queens\, local tragedies\,  valley legends\, ghost trains and the struggles of the Francophone community (to name a few of the topics they cover). Their most recent album\, Ghost Beer Train is full of stuff that doesn’t always make it into the history books.  Their music combines the emotional rawness of Bruce Springsteen with the locally-themed songs of Stompin’ Tom\, and the historic sagas of Gordon Lightfoot\, all wrapped in lovely harmonies.\nCheck them out here www.paulweber.ca or watch them on YouTube here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sk_gUytVp7M
