Welcome to Carleton Place
Thank you for choosing our beautiful town as your home. We have a lot to offer with excellent services, beautiful parks & recreation facilities, education institutions, childcare centres, hospital, the beautiful Mississippi River and a four-lane highway into the City of Ottawa. We also have access to a 61 kilometres multi-use trail known as the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail which goes from Smiths Falls through Carleton Place and to Mattawa. We are fortunate to have some of the ‘big box’ stores that you will find in the city, yet we retain a small-town feel as you visit the many shops that line our main street.
You will find many festivities and events year-round from the annual Bridge Street Summerfest that takes place on the August long weekend to our annual night-time Santa Claus Parade where you will see many festive floats with hundreds of lights. In our Market Square, you will find our Farmers’ Market operating from May to October where you can shop for local produce, canned preserves, fresh baked goods and much more. We are also home to the oldest continuously operating Canoe Club in Canada, the Carleton Place Canoe Club. From fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, swimming, and paddling, there is always something to see or do in Carleton Place.
Whether you are looking for a place to visit, live or build a business, you are always welcome in Carleton Place
Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions.

The Town of Carleton Place also utilizes social media to share community events and municipal information. Please like and or follow our social media accounts:
Waste Collection
Residents are required to have garbage and recycling at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on their scheduled collection day.
Residents are permitted one bag of waste each week unstickered. Any additional bags require garbage stickers which can be purchased at the Town Hall, Shoppers Drug Mart (315 McNeely Ave.) and the Visitor Centre (170 Bridge Street) for the cost of $3.00 per sticker. Large items require 4 stickers.
If you live in a multi-residential building with five or more units, please consult with your property manager for waste collection information.
The Town has a dual stream recycling program, which requires residents to separate their paper products from the containers (glass, metal, and plastics). Paper products are to be placed in your blue bins and containers in your yellow bins. Residents can obtain recycling bins at no cost from the Carleton Place Town Hall. Residents need to provide proof of residency.
Curbside leaf collection occurs twice a year during designated times. Information on the leaf collection is available through the waste app, posted on the Town of Carleton Place website, and in Municipal Matters in the Carleton Place newspaper. Residents can also utilize the compost yard (128 Patterson Crescent) to dispose of leaf waste May through November during posted hours.
The Household Hazardous Waste Depot located at 128 Patterson Crescent is open each Saturday 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon from mid-May to early September. Please check the app or the Town’s website for exact dates.
If you have any questions regarding waste or recycling collection, please visit our website or call the Public Works Office at (613) 257-2253.
Winter Maintenance
From November 15th through to April 1st, overnight on-street parking is strictly prohibited between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m., regardless of weather conditions, to allow for thorough and efficient winter maintenance operations. The Town has a legal responsibility to provide safe roadways for our community and to maintain our streets and sidewalks in accordance with Provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards.
Vehicles parked in violation of the ban will be ticketed and towed to the Public Library parking lot at 101 Beckwith Street.
The Town of Carleton Place has identified seven (7) parking lots with designated parking spaces for residents to safely park their vehicles overnight should they need additional parking.
Finance and Taxes
Taxes are also due on pre-determined dates each year and are collected in March, June, September and November.
Residents can complete a pre-authorized payment plan application form to pay taxes and/or water bills. By submitting this form, you are authorizing the Town of Carleton Place to debit your account for the payment of taxes and/or water billings as chosen for the option indicated.
