Construction Update - July 15th, 2021

The Town of Carleton Place’s Public Works Department strives to keep our residents informed of this year’s construction activities however, schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, changes in the provision of materials and/or availability of staff.  The following activities are planned for next week:

Central Bridge Project – Utility Relocation

Crews will be on-site next week to install underground ducts on the north and south sides of the river west of the Central Bridge.  It is important for residents to note, access to the municipal parking lot just south of the Central Bridge from Bridge Street will be closed on July 21st and 22nd.  The parking lot will still be accessible from Allan Street during this timeframe.

The storm sewer installation at the eastern portion of Bell Street will be completed next week. The installation of new concrete curbs and sidewalks between Bridge Street and Edmund Street will be completed.  Clean-up operations including access restoration will also be undertaken in the coming days.

Residents will still be able to access McPherson Automotive and the GastroPub.

Miguel and Santiago Streets

Moore Street to Park Avenue – Crews will be paving the base lift of asphalt.

Moore Street to Lenore Street – Crews will be adjusting the iron structures in preparation for the top lift of asphalt.

If weather conditions allow, crews will pave the top lift of asphalt from Moore Street to Lenore Street.

Moffatt Street

AECON will be grinding the outer edges of the existing asphalt in preparation for the overlay between High Street and Townline Road.

McKenzie Street

AECON will be removing the existing asphalt in preparation for paving activities.  Crews will also be excavating material in designated areas for new concrete curbs.

Louis Bray’s bridge crew has completed the installation of the cofferdams.  The access point has also been created and Louis Bray’s staff can now safely access the underside of the bridge to begin the rehabilitation work required. 

The Town of Carleton Place would like to remind residents that for safety reasons, pedestrians must use the OVRT to cross the Mississippi River.

The Town of Carleton Place asks for everyone’s help in ensuring safe and efficient work zones.  We encourage residents to avoid all construction zones, however, should residents be travelling within the construction zones, we urge you to proceed with caution and follow the directions provided by traffic control personnel and posted construction signage.  We ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation during the construction season, however, should a member of the public have any concerns or questions of a general nature, please contact the Public Works Office at 613-257-2253.
