The Public Works Department will begin curbside leaf collection starting Tuesday, April 14th. We are asking residents to place the leaf bags at the curb for collection in accordance with the following guidelines:
- Bags should be at the curb by 7:00 a.m.
- Public Works will only accept items in paper leaf bags. Items in plastic bags will not be collected.
- Bags should not exceed 15kg
- It is vital for residents to practice social distancing so please do not approach staff collecting yard waste bags.
In order to practice social distancing, Public Works is currently working at reduced staffing levels. Please note there will not be designated days of collection; rather we will be applying resources as available. As a result, it is it may take several days to collect yard bags. We are appealing to residents to be very patient with us as we do our best to collect the overwhelming volume of bags from the curb!
The Compost Yard is currently closed and senior staff are working to determine when that facility can open in a manner that will be safe for our Public Works staff and the public. Residents shall not deposit leaf bags at the gates on Patterson Crescent or McNeely Avenue. Anyone caught dumping bags (which is prohibited by by-law) could be subject to a fine from our By-law Department.
If residents would like to continue to be informed on waste collection matters, please sign up for the Carleton Place Waste Solutions App which is free for Android and Apple devices. If you have any questions, please call Public Works at 613-257-2253.
