Covid-19 - Update #54


Effective today, the Open Air Burn Ban is lifted within the Town of Carleton Place. Prior to any outdoor burning, residents please review the Open Air Burning By-law to make sure you are complying with the regulations. As always, please take the necessary safety precautions. Burning is only permitted in an approved appliance and must be enclosed on all sides.



Prime Minister Trudeau announced that all provinces and territories have confirmed, or are in the process of confirming, plans to cost share wage top-ups for their essential workers. The Government of Canada will provide up to $3 billion in support to increase the wages of low-income essential workers.



The Ontario government launched a new pandemic pay website.

The Ontario government has developed a comprehensive framework to help hospitals assess their readiness and begin planning for the gradual resumption of scheduled surgeries and procedures, while maintaining capacity to respond to COVID-19.

What better way to show your mom you care then to keep her safe and protect her from COVID-19. The Leeds, Grenville & Lanark District Health Unit would like to remind everyone that social gatherings over 5 are still prohibited by the Province, to prevent the spread of the virus.

This Mother’s Day will be different for many of us. The usual brunches, spa days, or family get-togethers will have to be postponed for this year. But we can still celebrate mom while protecting our loved ones and our community.
