OVRT Crosswalks Installed

The safety of those using the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail (OVRT) is of the utmost concern for the Town of Carleton Place.  Pedestrian crossovers have been installed at five (5) OVRT crossings under the Town’s care and control. M𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐲𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬. All other vehicular traffic (ex, ATVs, snowmobiles and cyclists) will have to yield to motorists.

The new pedestrian crossings have been installed at the following locations:

• Coleman Street

• Lake Ave East

• Albert Street

• Franklin Street

• Rosamond Street

Motorists should be equally aware of pedestrians, cyclists, ATVs, and snowmobiles crossing at Townline Road.  Townline Road is a County Road, therefore the Town will not be extending signage to the crossing at that location.
