Carleton Place receives over $500,000 in funding from FedDev Ontario through Canada Community Revitalization Fund

The Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place is pleased to announce that we received an investment of $534,626 from Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund (CCRF), to support two (2) projects. The CCRF is a two-year, $500-million national infrastructure program aimed at revitalizing communities across Canada.

The Town received $454,455 for the first project to revitalize the downtown core by replacing sidewalks and installing pedestrian crosswalks. With $80,171 for the second project, the Town purchased and installed an accessible play structure, outdoor exercise equipment and shaded structure at the Train Station Park (behind the Station Active Living Centre).

“The ability to revitalize our downtown core in conjunction with the redevelopment of the Central Bridge will go a long way in creating a vibrant and accessible space for residents and visitors to meet, shop and relax,” says Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place.

“When communities invest in better sidewalks and parks, they are creating lasting vibrancy, vitality and resiliency. Through the Canada Community Revitalization Fund, our government is supporting projects like the ones in the Town of Carleton Place that encourage people to get out and enjoy community spaces and improve their quality of life” says the Honorable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for FedDev Ontario.

“Creating multi-generational spaces in the community is a priority for the Town and we are excited to unveil this new area to the community in the Spring of 2023,” says Joanne Henderson, Manager of Recreation and Culture. “It will provide an opportunity for all residents, regardless of age, economic status or ability to participate in meaningful activities that enrich their lives and foster a sense of community.”
