Construction Update – June 16th, 2022

The Town of Carleton Place Public Works Department strives to keep our residents informed of all our construction activities however, schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, changes in the provision of materials and/or availability of staff.  The following activities are upcoming next week:

Bridge Street Reconstruction Project

**Please Note: Concrete crews scheduled to be in next week have been defered to commence work until the week of the 27th.**

Concrete crews will be onsite to begin the installation of concrete curbs and sidewalk. This installation will start at Lake Avenue on the west side of Bridge Street and continue northward. Staff are anticipating the new concrete curbs will be installed up to Emily Street by the end of the week and a separate crew will follow behind with the installation of concrete sidewalk. Accommodations will be made during the installation of the new curbs and sidewalks for access to businesses on the west side of Bridge Street.

Electrical crews will be continuing the installation of the electrical ducts and streetlight bases on the west side of Bridge Street. They are expected to be working in the section from Emily Street to the Central Bridge.

Central Bridge Reconstruction Project

Now that the concrete pours of the pier caps have been completed, crews will be pouring concrete for the north abutment on Friday, June 17th (weather permitting). The south abutment is scheduled to be poured the first of the week. This will complete the concrete pours of the support structure in preparation for the arrival of the concrete girders.

In order to be ready for the arrival of the girders, Louis Bray will once again be working on the Central Bridge on Saturday, June 18th.

Munro Street (Moore Street to Rochester Street)

Cavanagh Construction will be completing the road excavation and placement of granular materials.  Crews will also be making repairs to the concrete curbs and sidewalks where needed.

Moffatt Street (Townline Road to McKenzie Street)

The concrete crews will be wrapping up all the concrete work.  Once the concrete work is completed, crews will begin preparations to repair driveways impacted by the construction.

Lyndhurst Street

Cavanagh Construction is optimistic crews will be able to complete the sanitary sewer and water service work next week and will then replace the granular materials within the roadway.

Arthur Street

Concrete crews will be on-site repairing damaged sidewalk panels where needed.
