Construction Update – September 22nd, 2022

The Town of Carleton Place Public Works Department would like to remind residents that weather conditions and supply of materials have the potential to impact construction schedules and objectives for the week ahead.  Activities anticipated for the upcoming week include the following:

Bridge Street Revitalization

The last couple of weeks have seen significant progress achieved on Bridge Street. Concrete sidewalks are near completion and the next stage of the concrete work will see the decorative stamped concrete installed along the curbs and around landscape areas. Work is progressing well with road grading operations and base course asphalt is planned to be placed this upcoming week. As stated earlier this week, preparations for paving operations requires closure of on-street parking on Bridge Street and municipal parking lots that have access from Bridge Street only.

Louis Bray will temporarily open Bridge Street for the WEEKEND ONLY and will provide temporary access to all municipal parking lots for the weekend.

On-Steet parking along Bridge Street will remain closed until asphalt levels are such that it is safe for vehicles to access the parking areas. All closures will be reinstated Monday morning at 7:00 a.m.

Central Bridge Replacement

Formwork for the decorative arches continues on both sides of the Bridge. In addition to Louis Bray’s crews working on the bridge structure, Enbridge Gas will be on site to commence the process of replacing the gas main on the Central Bridge.
