Construction Update – April 27th, 2023

The Public Works Department would like to remind residents that weather, staffing, and supply of materials can impact the construction schedule.  Activities anticipated for the upcoming week include the following:

Central Bridge

The Public Works Department would like to advise residents that Black and McDonald will be returning to work on the lighting system for the Central Bridge. Crews are anticipated to be on-site later next week and residents may experience short-term lane reductions while crews are actively working on the lights.

Carleton Place Arena Parking Lot (75 Neelin Street)

Cavanagh Construction will begin the process of reconstructing the Arena parking lot. Crews will be excavating material in two (2) phases to ensure visitors to the Arena will still have places to park.  In addition to replacing the existing asphalt, stormwater catch basins will be relocated, crews will also be repairing concrete sidewalks and curbs where needed. We are anticipating this project will be completed by the end of June.

Barclay Street and Barker Street

Cavanagh Construction will begin grinding the edges of the existing asphalt early next week followed by the removal and reinstatement of sections of concrete curb and sidewalk in need of repair.

Joseph Street Pumping Station

The Joseph Street Pumping Station rehabilitation project will begin next week with the contractor, Laurin General Contractors, mobilizing on-site to prepare for the installation of the by-pass pumping system. The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of July 2023.
