Central Bridge Construction Update - February 3rd, 2022

Work has officially begun for the replacement of the Central Bridge. Louis Bray’s crews have been establishing a staging area and have now positioned a large barge under a portion of the existing bridge that will serve as a catchment system for any debris from the demolition process.  The barge will be relocated as each section of the bridge is removed.

Even with this system in place, Louis Bray and their subcontractors will be undertaking a methodical approach for the removal of the existing bridge. Demolition crews will be cutting the bridge deck, including the sidewalk, into manageable sections and removing these individually. This process will be the main activity for the next several weeks.

This controlled approach will ensure that no debris enters the river and also maintains a safe work environment for crews working on this project.
