Central Bridge Construction Update - March 3, 2022

The Town of Carleton Place would like to advise residents of the activities planned for the coming days and there is a lot that is going to be happening!

Central Bridge Reconstruction - Louis Bray and their contractors have been making considerable progress with the removal of the bridge decking and sidewalks on the north side.  Once the removal work is completed on the north side, a very large crane will be moved onsite to begin the removal of the steel bridge structure.

The demolition crews and equipment will also be relocating to the south side of the bridge structure (closest to the Town Hall) and will begin the final phases of demolition with the removal of the remaining railings, sidewalks, and bridge decking.

Additionally, in order to begin the rehabilitation of the abutment walls, small coffer dams (which will be similar to ones utilized for repairs to the Gilles Bridge structure) will be installed at the corners of the bridge abutments to allow crews to safety work on repairing the abutment walls.

Oil Grit Separator Installation - The Town of Carleton Place appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding while crews have been removing the large amount of rock to accommodate the new oil grit separator.  The rock removal process is nearing completion and it is anticipated that the actual structure will be delivered to site for installation sometime next week.
