Changes to Recycling Collection

The Town of Carleton Place Public Works Department would like to inform residents that effective June 1st, 2020 Emterra Environmental will be providing recycling collection and processing services on behalf of the Town.

Initially residents will not see any changes at the curb, however the Town will begin the transition to a dual stream process with alternating collection of paper products and other recyclable materials each week starting August of 2020.

Residents will be receiving a new yellow bin from Emterra and along with promotional information including a calendar to help with the transition.   Residents can still use their blue bins for recycling each week.  Residents are also encouraged to download the free Carleton Place Waste Solutions App for all your waste collection information.

There will be some changes residents need to be aware of:

•    Food grade plastic containers will be accepted but they must be clean and free of any residue;

•    Plastic bags and plastic film will NO longer be accepted;

•    Black plastic will NOT be accepted as it interferes with the processing equipment.

The Town of Carleton Place looks forward to working with Emterra Environmental for next several years.
