Lake Avenue West (Mississippi Road to the entrance of Mississippi Shores Subdivision Development)
Cavanagh Construction and the Town of Carleton Place would like to advise residents the intersection of Mississippi Road and Lake Avenue West will be closed Saturday, December 11th, 2021 as crews will be installing the watermain and sanitary forcemain within the intersection and working on a portion of the water distribution system adjacent to Carleton Place High School (CPHS). This road closure was scheduled outside normal business hours as we did not want to impact the supply of safe drinking water to the staff and students of CPHS and for safety reasons we wanted to avoid any potential conflict with students accessing the nearby schools on foot, by car, or by bus. Detours will be in place and we encourage residents to use alternate routes to reach their intended destinations.
Central Bridge - Utility Relocation
Telecommunication contractors are nearing completion of the required work in relocating critical communications cables that are located within the Central Bridge. The final stage of this work is planned for the upcoming week. This final stage of work will see the existing cables removed from the bridge structure and will require the closure of the southbound lane on the Central Bridge while workers are on site. Traffic control personnel will be on-site to provide direction to motorists. It is anticipated that this work will commence on Tuesday, December 14th, 2021 and will be completed by Thursday, December 16th, 2021. Access to the municipal parking lot from Bridge St. may be interrupted. Please note, all dates are subject to change.
Gillies Bridge – Watermain Installation
Louis Bray will have crews back on site to proceed with the installation of the new watermain on both the Gillies Bridge and the Mill Street Bridge. The bridge will remain closed while crews are working on the watermain. Staff would like to advise residents that the Gillies Bridge will reopen to northbound traffic in advance of the Central bridge closure in early January.
