Construction Update - May 26th 2022

The Town of Carleton Place Public Works Department strives to keep our residents informed of all our construction activities however, schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, changes in the provision of materials and/or availability of staff.  The following activities are upcoming this week:

Bridge Street Reconstruction Project – 10 km/h please and be prepared to stop!

The Town of Carleton Place is requesting motorists navigating through this corridor please proceed with extreme caution. Louis Bray is making every effort reasonably possible to allow residents and customers as much access as possible to the businesses within the Downtown core, but there have been several occurrences with motorists disregarding posted signage and/or traveling at excessive speeds within the construction zone. These occurrences not only jeopardize the safety of construction crews but residents as well. Please put safety first and respect the posted signage and traffic control measures in place!

Albert Street to Franklin Street

Louis Bray’s crews will be continuing with the installation of catch basins. This crew has been working between Albert and Franklin Streets for a couple of weeks now and they are continuing to progress northwards. The upcoming week will see this crew working from mid-block to the intersection of Emily Street.

Also, sidewalk removals will commence in this section on the west side of Bridge Street between Albert Street towards Franklin Street. On-street parking will be impacted in this section, but crews will make every effort to maintain access to the two municipal parking lots in this area on Bridge Street.

Lake Avenue to College Street

Louis Bray’s electrical contractor will continue with the installation of new conduit and light bases for the new streetlights along the west side of Bridge Street. This section will again remain open to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY.

Central Bridge Reconstruction Project

Micropile installation is anticipated to be completed soon at the north abutment and the crew undertaking this work will be moving to the south side to begin installation of micropiles at the south abutment. Formwork on the north abutment will be starting once the micropile operation has moved to the south side. Additionally, work on the pier caps has been extended slightly but it is anticipated that concrete pours may occur on the piers this upcoming week.

Morris Street (Dunham Street to Mississippi Road)

Crews will be continuing with the removal and replacement of concrete sidewalks where required.

Morris Street (Graham Street to Napoleon Street)

This week Cavanagh’s crews will be pouring concrete for the new sidewalk along Morris Street.

Moffatt Street (Townline Road to McKenzie Street)

Cavanagh Construction will be continuing with the excavation of the existing asphalt and replacing granular materials and installing additional stormwater catch basins and leads where required.

Arthur Street (Boyd Street to Napoleon Street)

Crews will be on-site this week to remove and replace concrete sidewalks where required.
