Construction Update - May 4th, 2023

The Public Works Department would like to remind residents that weather, staffing, and supply of materials can impact the construction schedule. Activities anticipated for the upcoming week include the following:

Gillies Bridge Closure

The Town of Carleton Place would like to advise residents that Louis Bray Construction will be working on the Gillies Bridge on Monday, May 8th and the scope of work will necessitate the closure of this Bridge. Northbound traffic will be rerouted at Franklin Street and southbound traffic will be rerouted at Rosamond Street. It is anticipated that this closure will be in place by approximately 9:00 a.m. and reopened to traffic by mid-afternoon.

Central Bridge

On Friday, May 5th, Black and MacDonald will be returning to work on the lighting system for the Central Bridge.  Residents may experience short-term lane reductions while crews are actively working on the lights.

Bridge Street Landscape Features

Louis Bray Construction will be returning to commence the completion of the landscape features along Bridge Street.  Although this work will be conducted off the travelled portion of the roadway, there will be short-term vehicular traffic interruptions to safely allow for the movement of material and equipment. Also, sections of sidewalk may be closed to facilitate this work in localized areas.

Carleton Place Arena Parking Lot (75 Neelin Street)

Cavanagh Construction has begun the process of reconstructing the Arena parking lot.  Crews will continue with the excavation materials including granular material and will also begin installing new materials.

Barclay Street and Barker Street

Cavanagh Construction will continue with the removals of damaged concrete sidewalks and curbs.  Once removals have been completed, crews will begin preparations to pour new concrete where needed.

Joseph Street Pumping Station

The Joseph Street Pumping Station rehabilitation project has begun with the contractor mobilizing on site to prepare for the installation of the by-pass pumping system.  The project is anticipated to be completed by the end of July 2023.
