Construction Update - May 8, 2019

High Street, Mary Street, Henry Street, Queen Street South, Antrim Street Construction

The Town of Carleton Place and AECON Construction would like to inform that AECON will be preparing and installing the top lift of asphalt on all the impacted streets from the 2019 construction program next week.  Residents on the impacted streets are being asked to not park vehicles on the street next week to allow crews to pave from curb to curb without issue or delay.  Residents with Wednesday garbage and recycling collection are reminded to place your garbage and recycling items at the curb by 7:00 a.m. as it will likely be collected early.

Under direct Town supervision, AECON will be taking every precaution in order to minimize interruptions. The Town of Carleton Place is asking residents to avoid these areas if possible.  For residents living within the construction areas, we are asking you to maintain physical distancing measures and refrain from any contact with AECON’s crews on site. AECON has a strict COVID-19 policy in place to protect both our subcontractors/ workers on site and residents in the surrounding area, including physical distancing, additional sanitization and wash stations.

Bridge Street Construction

Public Works would also like to inform residents that we will be making repairs to the water distribution system on Bridge Street at Emily Street next week.  On Wednesday, May 13th the south bound lane of Bridge Street will be closed from Allan Street to Albert Street and signage will be in place to direct vehicle traffic accordingly.  The north bound lane will remain open to vehicle traffic.  Pedestrians will have access to businesses located within the construction area.

The Town of Carleton Place is asking residents to respect social distancing measures and refrain from having any contact with Public Works staff.  Staff will be taking additional COVID-19 safety measures while working to ensure not only their safety but the safety of the public.

If a resident has any questions or concerns regarding these activities, please call the Carleton Place Public Works office at (613) 257-2253.
