The Town of Carleton Place’s Public Works Department strives to keep our residents informed of this year’s construction activities. Please note the following activities are planned for the coming days, however, these activities are subject to change:
Lake Avenue West (Mississippi Road to the entrance of Mississippi Shore Development)
The Town of Carleton Place would like to advise residents of lane reductions starting next week along Lake Avenue West from Mississippi Road to the entrance of the Mississippi Shores development as Cavanagh Construction installs the watermain and a sanitary sewer forcemain that will service the Mississippi Shores development. Work on Lake Avenue is anticipated to be completed by mid-December.
Residents should also be aware a portion of Roy Brown Park will be closed starting next week as crews work to construct sewer, water and stormwater management infrastructure in a portion of the park. Residents will still be able to access the dog park located within Roy Brown Park. Work within the Park is anticipated to be completed by the end of June 2022.
Should residents have any questions or concerns they may contact Cavanagh Construction at 613-257-2918.
The Public Works Department is pleased to say that the work on the Gillies Bridge is nearing completion. The work beneath the Gillies bridge is completed and crews will be removing the cofferdam from the river. In the coming days, crews will be paving the bridge deck and repairing areas where asphalt was removed on Rosamond Street and Princess Street for the installation of watermain infrastructure.
The Town of Carleton Place would like to remind residents that for safety reasons, pedestrians must use the OVRT to cross the Mississippi River.
Mill Street Sidewalk
The Public Works Department would like to advise residents the sidewalk from the OVRT to Judson Street is now complete. This new sidewalk allows residents to safely navigate their way from the beautiful OVRT to the downtown core via the sidewalks along Mill Street. This pedestrian connection will be a vital part of the pedestrian detour route when the Central Bridge is closed for construction. Crews will be on-site reinstating asphalt where needed and removing any construction debris.
The Town of Carleton Place asks for everyone’s help in ensuring safe and efficient work zones. We encourage residents to avoid all construction zones, however, should residents be travelling within the construction zones, we urge you to proceed with caution and follow the directions provided by traffic control personnel and posted construction signage. We ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation during the construction season, however, should a member of the public have any concerns or questions of a general nature, please contact the Public Works Office at 613-257-2253.
