Construction Update - September 17, 2020

Construction Update - The Town of Carleton Place would like to advise our residents of the following activities for the coming week, however, the schedule is subject to change due to weather conditions, changes in the provision of materials and/or availability of staff:

Bridge Street – Road Closure - Work will be beginning on the installation of a new sewage forcemain on Bridge Street from Townline Road to 50 m north of Townline Road.  This portion of roadway will be closed from September 23rd to October 13th with detours in place rerouting traffic to Thomas Street.

High Street - Crews will be removing material where the concrete curbs tie into the exiting curbs and sidewalks.  A forming crew will be working on Saturday, September 18th in order to set the forms for the replacement sidewalks in the coming days.   Cavanagh’s crews will then begin the process of replacing curbs and sidewalks where required on the north side of High Street.  Residents who will not have access to their driveways during the replacement of the concrete curbs and sidewalks have been notified by Cavanagh Construction.  It is possible that crews will begin placing granular material in the roadway sometime during the week.

The Town of Carleton Place would like to ask for everyone’s help in ensuring safe and efficient work zones.  We would like to encourage residents to avoid the construction zones, however, should residents be travelling within the construction zones we urge you to proceed with caution and follow the directions provided by the Traffic Control persons and posted construction signage.

We ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation during the construction season, however, should a member of the public have any concerns or questions of a general nature, please contact the Public Works Office at 613-257-2253.
