Council Meeting Highlights - August 17th, 2021

As a result of the Council and Committee of the Whole meetings scheduled for Tuesday, August 24th being cancelled, a Special Meeting of Council was held at 5:00 p.m. this evening to approve items from the August 10th Committee of the Whole meeting.

The following By-laws of note were read and passed:

  1. By-law No. 97-2021 (Amendment to Fees and Charges By-law 114-2020) to authorize a daily fee of $75 for Refreshment Vehicles (as defined in the Refreshment Vehicle By-law 50-2020) which operate in the Town for special events held by the Town, community organizations, or privately. This fee is applicable to for-profit operations. Non-profit organizations would be exempt from this charge as they are often asked to assist at local events and use the proceeds to help fund their mandated functions.
  1. By-law No. 98-2021 (To Permit Temporary Road and Public Parking Lot Closures- BIA Night Market) to allow for the closure of Bridge Street from Mill Street to Lake Avenue on Thursday, August 26th, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the BIA Night Market event. The parking lot at 82 Bridge Street (across from Scotiabank) will be closed from Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 at 11:00 p.m. to Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. to allow for the operation of a temporary Beaver Tail/Pastry Pop Up Shop.

The next regularly scheduled meetings of Council and Committee of the Whole will take place on Tuesday, September 7th, 2021.
