PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT UPDATES
SCHOOL CLOSURE EXTENDED
Today, Education Minister Stephen Lecce announced that all publicly-funded schools will remain closed until at least May 31, 2020, as part of an effort to keep students, staff and families safe from COVID-19.
Effective immediately, the Ontario government is allowing the use of allotment and community gardens across Ontario, provided that people practice physical distancing and do not gather in groups of more than five. Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act as set out in O Reg. 104/20 will be updated in the coming days to reflect this change.
PROPERTY MAINTENANCE SERVICES
As the warmer weather approaches, potential health, safety, and sanitation issues associated with the growing season are becoming more prevalent. Therefore, property maintenance/ landscaping businesses that are providing property maintenance are permitted. Permissible services include lawn cutting, dethatching, rolling, clearing yard and garden debris, and aeration. All other activities, such as landscaping projects for beautifying properties, or that involve interlock, fences, etc. will not be permitted until further notice is received from the Province.
