Covid-19 - Update #50


Today, Prime Minister Trudeau highlighted that families receiving the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) will get $300 extra per child in May to help them deal with the added pressures of COVID-19.

Prime Minister Trudeau also announced an investment of $240.5 million to develop, expand, and launch virtual care and mental health tools to support Canadians.

When COVID-19 is detected through testing, the Health Unit initiates contact tracing. Contact tracing prevents further transmission by quickly identifying and informing people who may be infected and contagious, so they can take steps to avoid infecting others. Take this online self-assessment to determine if you have COVID like symptoms.

Advice for those over 70 - Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health strongly urges people over the age of 70 to stay home and self-isolate, whether they have COVID-19 symptoms or not. If you know some older adults, consider reaching out. Doing things for others can strengthen your own mental health too!
