FEDERAL GOVERNMENT UPDATES

National Indigenous Peoples Day - Prime Minister Trudeau issued a statement today acknowledging  National Indigenous Peoples Day and encouraged Canadians to take time to reflect on the cultures, traditions, languages, contributions, and heritage of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples.

 

PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT UPDATES

Today, the Ontario government announced members of the new Indigenous Women's Advisory Council. The Council includes First Nations, Métis, Inuit, and LGBTQ2S leaders on violence prevention who will provide input on issues impacting their communities such as human trafficking and child, youth and family well-being.

 

OTHER UPDATES

Health Unit Heat Warning - Due to high temperatures and humidex levels, Environment Canada has issued a heat warning. A combination of heat and high humidity can be hazardous to your health. Conditions during high heat and humidity have the potential to cause dehydration, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and in some cases death. The Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is advising the public to monitor the forecast over the next few days and to follow the list of recommended precautions available on their website.
