Canada Day House Decorating Contest - The Carleton Place Recreation and Culture Department is pleased to announce the Carleton Place Canada Day House Decorating Contest!

  1. Register your house (must be located in Carleton Place) by emailing jhansen@carletonplace.ca or calling 613-257-1704. Registrations must be received by June 30th.
  2. Decorate using flags, colours, messages and more to make your house festive!
  3. Celebrate! Enjoy Canada Day with friends and family.

The winners will be announced on July 10th. Winners will receive a gift card to a downtown Carleton Place store of their choosing. 1st place prize is $100, 2nd place prize is $75, and 3rd place prize is $50.



Changes to Extend Time Periods for Temporary Layoffs - Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister of Labour, announced changes to extend time periods for temporary layoffs to allow employers more time to recall laid-off employees. The temporary changes will help protect the jobs of federally regulated private-sector employees and support employers facing economic hardship as a result of the pandemic.



Keep Pets Safe This Summer - The Ontario government is strongly urging everyone to ensure their pet is not left unattended in a vehicle during the hot summer weather. Temperatures inside a vehicle can quickly become much hotter than the temperature outside even if the windows are opened slightly. This can put pets at risk of serious illness and possibly death. If your pet can't be with you at your destination, leave them at home where they will be safe, cool and comfortable.

Toronto Moving Into Phase 2 - The Ontario government is allowing more businesses and services to open and getting more people back to work by moving the City of Toronto and Peel Region into Stage 2 on Wednesday.
