Mayor’s Proclamation: Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Anniversary

Seventy years ago, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II acceded to the Throne and became Queen of Canada. I join with all members of our community in congratulating Her Majesty on her Platinum Jubilee Anniversary.

This is a historic milestone, the first time since Confederation that Canadians can celebrate the Platinum Jubilee of their Sovereign. I invite all to join us in paying tribute to Her Majesty’s lifetime of committed service to Canada, the Commonwealth, and its people.

Her Majesty has been a constant in the life of Canadians and continues to show her unwavering leadership. Her Majesty is the patron of more than 600 charities and organizations, including 36 in Canada.

To mark this very special occasion, many events will take place across the country. Here in Carleton Place, several teas and a large garden party are planned to let us celebrate together.

  • June 3rd: Carleton Place Legion #192 Jubilee High Tea Party
  • June 4th: Carleton Place Legion #192 Jubilee Breakfast
  • June 4th: Carleton Place Heritage Museum FREE Garden Party
  • June 10th: St. James Anglican Church Jubilee Tea Party

I invite all residents to take part.

On behalf of Council and our citizens I offer our warmest wishes to Her Majesty on this occasion of her 70 years of reign. We thank her for her service and dedication.
