National Volunteer Week - A Message from Mayor Randell

April 16th to 22nd, 2023, is National Volunteer Week in Canada. And while the vast majority of volunteers don’t offer their time and energy for the recognition, it is without a doubt an effort worth acknowledging and celebrating.

Volunteers are the heart of any town and in Carleton Place that heart beats loud and proud. We are fortunate to have an abundance of people who day after day, year after year, consistently step up to support their neighbours and their community.

Volunteering isn’t always about helping out a group or organization. It can also be about helping your neighbour. Carleton Place is still at its core a small town and a big part of what makes it feel like a small town is our collective values and the desire to be part of a community that knows, respects, and helps one another.

So, this volunteer week, introduce yourself to your neighbours. Offer to help a Senior. Think about stories you have heard or read recently that really resonated with you and made you smile and how you can contribute in a way that would make other people smile.

I would like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to all Carleton Place volunteers past and present. Your kind and generous hearts are what make Carleton Place one of the best communities in Lanark County!
