Lanark Transportation Association is excited to announce that Ride the LT once a week bus service will launch in Carleton Place on Wednesday, October 9th. It will offer rides on a pre-set circuit to popular shopping destinations in Carleton Place. “We have been offering a similar service to residents of Lanark Highlands since the beginning of 2018,” said LTA Executive Director Marilyn Bird. “After starting discussions with Mayor Black earlier this summer, we realized that Carleton Place was a good fit for a similar service.”
Ride the LT will have two pickup points, Carambeck Community Centre and Carleton Place Town Hall. “But the great thing about this service is that if you can’t get to either of these locations, we will pick you up and drop you off at your home address, as long as it is within the town limits,” said Bird. The schedule is designed that shoppers can have one stop of 45 minutes at one location and then go to a second location for another 45 minutes or spend 90 minutes at one destination.
The cost is $2 for a return trip. “It is important for us that this service is affordable for all,” explained Bird. Passengers do have to register with LTA by the previous Tuesday and this can be done by phoning 613-264-8256 or 1-877-445-5777.
