OWFC Responds to House Fire

The Ocean Wave Fire Company responded to a fully involved structure fire at approximately 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25th, at a two-story home on Patterson Crescent in Carleton Place.  Mutual aid was activated calling on the Mississippi Mills Fire Department and Beckwith Fire Department to assist with the fire.

“I want to thank all of our firefighters and those from our neighbouring departments, the Ontario Provincial Police (O.P.P) and Lanark County Paramedic Service for responding and working together at the scene to contain the fire, investigate, and to keep everyone safe,” says Fire Chief Pascal Meunier. “Firefighters worked into the late afternoon ensuring hot spots were out, cleaning up, and assisting with the fire investigation.”

The fire was contained to the property which included the house, garage and a vehicle. Firefighters gained quick control of the fire and prevented flames from spreading to neighbouring properties. Some heat damage occurred on one neighbouring home.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but damage to the house of origin is extensive.

The Ontario Fire Marshal’s office was also called to the scene to conduct a fire investigation along with the O.P.P to try and determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is ongoing at this time and the cause is not yet known.
