Pride Month

The month of June is nationally recognized as PRIDE Month in Canada. In Carleton Place we normally honour the occasion with a flag ceremony at the Town Hall. However, due to COVID-19, the Carleton Place Pride Committee requested public celebrations be moved to September this year.

I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge how inspired I am by the LGBTQ community and their unwavering commitment to advocate for the protection of basic human rights and equality.  Also, to the Carleton Place Pride Committee for your continued efforts to make Carleton Place such a progressive and inclusive community where everyone feels welcome. Thank you for continuing to include me in your festivities. I look forward to a time when we can gather and celebrate as a community.

Sincerely,

Mayor Black
