COUNCIL MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

Consent Items

The following consent items of note from the December 5th and 12th, 2023, Committee of the Whole meetings were approved:

Council received the following reports as information:

  • Public Meetings for Subdivisions
  • Official Plan
  • CAO’s Report – Delegated Authority
  • Pool Domestic Hot Water Tank Emergency Replacement

Motions

2024 Budget - This evening, Council approved a 3% tax rate increase for 2024 which represents an average increase to residential taxes of $67.07 per year, or $5.59 per month.


By-laws

The following By-Laws of note were read and passed:

  • By-law No. 102-2023 - To Repeal Connection Fee By-law 40-1990 which was a by-law to impose a charge upon owners of lands who derive or will derive a benefit from those services along Napoleon Street.
  • By-law 103-2023 - To Authorize Agreements for Insurance and Risk Management Services and Cyber Insurance for 2024 between Intact Public Entities with McDougall Insurance & Financial and CFC respectively.
  • By-law No. 104-2023 - To Adopt a Procedural By-law which is a by-law to establish the rules governing the order and proceedings of Council and Committees of the Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place.

The first regularly scheduled meetings in 2024 will be on Tuesday, January 9th, 2024, commencing at 6:00 p.m.
