Public Park Feedback Banner Image - Yellow

Public Park Feedback Requested

An Open House was held at the Arena on Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, to give residents the opportunity to view preliminary designs for park developments at Miller’s Crossing (Fanning Street), and Coleman Central (Nelson Street East), ask questions, and provide feedback.

The Concept Plans are now available for online viewing.

We would love to hear your input on the plans and would appreciate your participation in our online survey. Comments will be accepted until December 22nd, 2023.

The Town of Carleton Place is seeking an individual to fill the position of Public Works Technologist.

Summary: 

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Public Works, the Public Works Technologist develops and administers the annual Public Works Capital Program, and directs all Contractors involved in the referenced Program by the Public Works Department. This position plays a pivotal role in the continued development, coordination, implementation, and administration of the Town’s asset management plans related to roads, water, and sewer infrastructure.

Qualification/Experience:

  1. Three (3) year post-secondary education in the applicable engineering field. 
  2. Training in Asset Management would be considered an asset, or the candidate would be willing to obtain.
  3. Minimum three (3) years’ direct experience.
  4. Possess and maintain a valid Class “G” licence and reliable vehicle.
  5. Experience in the preparation of design drawings using AUTOCAD.
  6. A member of OACETT or eligible would be considered an asset, and
  7. Criminal Reference Check (valid to 6 months of employment).

The pay grid for the position is $35.64 - $45.40 per hour (2024 rates), based on a 40-hour work week.   In addition, a comprehensive benefit package with 100% employer-paid premiums for health, dental, life, short/long term disability is provided plus a pension plan with matching employer contribution.

The Town of Carleton Place is seeking individuals to fill the positions of RECE Teacher-Split Shift – Carambeck School Age Program on a permanent part-time basis.

Summary: 

The position of RECE Childcare Teacher specializes in creating safe inclusive learning environments and experiences for the children in the program while working within specific guidelines and requirements regulated by the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), local Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, and the Town of Carleton Place.  Early Childhood Educators observe, plan, organize and introduce programs for children based on their interests between the ages of infancy to 12 years.

Qualification/Experience:

  1. Completed Early Childhood Education Diploma (provincially recognized by the Ministry of Education and College of ECE). 
  2. Must be willing to obtain and maintain CPR-C/AED and standard first aid certification.
  3. Must be willing to obtain and maintain Anaphylaxis training.
  4. Early Childhood Education experience preferred and/or equivalent child-related experience.
  5. Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check (valid to 6 months of employment).

The positions will be scheduled for 4.25 hours per day with additional hours covering PD days and school breaks.  The pay grid for the position is $25.02 - $32.13 per hour (2024 rates).

The waste collection schedule will be as follows during the holiday season: 

  • Monday, December 25th – Collection will be Tuesday, December 26th
  • Wednesday, December 27th – Collection as normal
  • Thursday, December 28th – Collection as normal
  • Friday, December 29th – Collection as normal
  • Monday, January 1st – Collection will be Tuesday, January 2nd

Residents are permitted 3 unstickered bags on their collection day between December 26th and December 29th. Waste and recycling must be curbside by 7:00 a.m. on collection day to ensure items will be collected.

PROVINCIAL NEWS

Ontario Consumers Will be Able to Buy Beer, Cider, Wine and Low-Alcohol Ready-to-Drink Beverages at Convenience, Grocery and Big Box Stores - Province will ensure a stable and responsible transition to new marketplace that promotes Ontario-made products and local jobs

Today, the Ontario government announced that beginning no later than January 1st, 2026, consumers will be able to buy beer, wine, cider, coolers, seltzers, and other low-alcohol ready-to-drink beverages at all participating convenience, grocery and big box stores across the province. This new, more open marketplace will introduce up to 8,500 new stores where these products can be purchased, the largest expansion of consumer choice and convenience since the end of prohibition almost 100 years ago. Spirits like vodka, gin and whisky will continue to be sold at the LCBO.


Ontario Taking Action to Support Municipal Partners in Building More Homes and Protecting Taxpayers

The Government of Ontario is responding to feedback from its municipal partners and is taking steps to clarify and enhance collaborative efforts to build at least 1.5 million homes across the province by 2031, protect frontline services, and keep costs down for taxpayers.
