Winter Storm Watch

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Watch.

Snow associated with a major winter storm is expected to arrive late Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday morning. Snow may change to ice pellets or freezing rain Tuesday night. Several hours of freezing rain are possible, particularly in the Ottawa Valley.

The amount of snow will depend on how quickly precipitation changes to ice pellets or freezing rain, although some locations may receive 10 to 20 cm of snow.

Is your 72-Hour Emergency Kit stocked? Visit the Ontario Emergency Preparedness website for tips.

As part of your kit, ensure you have a battery-powered radio. Check your flashlights and ensure that you have working batteries for them and make sure your cell phone and other devices are charged when a storm is forecasted.

If the Town experiences an emergency, such as a power outage, information and updates will be shared via the Town’s website, e-newsletter CP Scoop, on the Lake 88.1 radio station, on social media, and on notice boards at the Pool (359 Bridge Street) and at the Arena (75 Neelin Street).

Ontario Connecting Long-Term Care Residents to Specialized Care - Supports will continue to help residents connect to care at home and avoid unnecessary hospital admissions

The Ontario government is investing an additional $15 million this year through the Local Priorities Fund to invest a total of $35 million in 2023-24, to help long-term care homes support residents with complex needs like dementia and bariatric care. The funding will ensure residents can connect to the right care in the right place and help reduce avoidable emergency department visits and hospital stays.
