Carleton Place Public Library – Seed Library

Spring is here, and that means it's time to open the Carleton Place Public Library Seed Library!

What is a Seed Library? The Seed Library is a free community resource offering vegetable, herb, and flower seeds. “Borrow” seeds from the library in the Spring, plant and grow them, and then return the seeds from your harvest to the library in the Fall.

How to use the Seed Library

1. Visit the library and browse the available seeds. You can find out what seed varieties are available through the library catalogue.

2. Select your seeds and bring them to our Circulation Desk. No library card required! We recommend a maximum of ten seed packs.

3. Plant, grow, and harvest! Browse our catalogue for information and inspiration on different types of gardening.

4. Save your seeds and donate them back to the library.

5. Tell a friend! The more people donating seeds to the library, the more robust this community resource will be.

Seeds are limited, so please only take what you need.

Ontario Investing Over $1.8 Billion to Build More Homes - New housing-enabling infrastructure funding will help municipalities get shovels in the ground

The Ontario government is investing more than $1.8 billion in housing-enabling infrastructure funding to help build at least 1.5 million homes by 2031. This funding includes $1 billion for the new Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program and $625 million more for the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund, bringing its total funding to $825 million. This new funding complements existing and ongoing provincial investments in housing- and community-enabling infrastructure, including the $1.2 billion Building Faster Fund, the original $200 million investment in the Housing-Enabling Water Systems Fund and the investment of nearly $2 billion for the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund since 2021–22.
