Town Hall Closed for Easter Holiday

The Carleton Place Town Hall (175 Bridge Street) will be closed on Friday, March 29th and Monday, April 1st, 2024, for the Easter Holiday and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2nd with regular business hours.

Employment Opportunities at the Carleton Place Public Pool

The Town of Carleton Place is accepting applications to fill the following positions at the Carleton Place Public Pool:

  • Casual Cashier
  • Pool Instructor

The 2024 pay grids and detailed job descriptions for these positions can be accessed on the Employment Opportunities page on the Town’s website.

Qualified candidates are invited to submit a detailed cover letter and CV outlining your credentials relevant to the position, using PDF or docx format. Please be advised that the Town reserves the right to post its employment opportunities as open until filled. Resume reviews may begin immediately and continue until the posted position is filled and any position can be filled prior to the closing date. Applications for the Casual Cashier position must be received no later than 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 11th, 2024, while the acceptance period for the Pool Instructor position is ongoing. Effective March 26th, 2024, until further notice, Carleton Place Fire Department is activating a TOTAL BURN BAN, which means NO fires of any kind are allowed.

Reminder - Easter - Changes to Waste Collection

Due to the Easter holiday, garbage & recycling collection that would normally occur on Friday, March 29th, 2024, will instead occur on Saturday, March 30th, 2024.

Waste collection will be collected as normal on Monday, April 1st, 2024.

Ontario Raising Minimum Wage to Support Workers - Increase to $17.20 an hour follows passage of government’s fourth Working for Workers Act

The Ontario government is increasing the minimum wage from $16.55 per hour to $17.20, effective October 1st, 2024. This 3.9 percent annualized wage increase is based on the Ontario Consumer Price Index (CPI) and brings Ontario’s minimum wage to the second highest in Canada.


A New Deal for Ottawa - Agreement between province and city invests in Ottawa’s unique needs as national capital, regional economic hub

The Government of Ontario and the City of Ottawa have reached a new deal that recognizes and invests in the city’s unique needs as Canada’s national capital and eastern Ontario’s economic hub, helping ensure the city’s sustainable, long-term growth and prosperity. The agreement includes a phased plan to guide the upload of Ottawa Road 174 to the province, provincial support for the repair and upgrade of the city’s major connecting routes and rural roads, designing and building a new interchange at Highway 416 and Barnsdale Road, and improving public safety by opening a new police neighbourhood operations centre in the ByWard Market area.
