Lake Avenue East
Thomas Cavanagh’s Construction crews will be continuing with the installation of the sanitary forcemain along Lake Avenue East and will be replacing catch basins within the intersection of Bridge Street and Lake Avenue from Monday July 17th to Friday July 21st. The intersection will be closed and detours will be in place.
Together, Cavanagh Construction and the Town of Carleton Place would like to ask for your help in ensuring a safe and efficient work area. We would like to encourage residents to avoid the construction area, however, should residents be travelling along the detours we urge you to proceed with caution and follow the directions provided by the Traffic Control persons and/or posted construction signage.
McNeely Avenue Extension
Tomlinson is nearing completion on the southern extension of McNeely Avenue that will lead to the new Miller’s Crossing subdivision. Line painting and signage installation will be completed soon.
Also, residents should be aware the traffic signals that had been deactivated on McNeely Avenue at the entrances to RONA and Home Depot will be put back into service with the opening of the McNeely Avenue extension. The Town of Carleton Place will do our utmost to provide advance warning of when the traffic signals are activated.
Central Bridge Repairs
The Town has hired Greyleith Construction to undertake repairs to the Central Bridge.
Although it is anticipated the work will be fairly short in duration (approximately one week) it will require the bridge to be reduced to one lane operation. In order to complete this work in a timely manner work will be undertaken throughout the day and overnight. Nighttime lane closures will be primarily to allow the concrete to set prior to accepting traffic flow.
It is our intention for this work to begin the week of July 24th. The schedule will be confirmed in next week’s construction update.
We ask for everyone’s patience and cooperation during the construction season, however, should a member of the public have any concerns or questions, please contact the Public Works Office (613-257-2253).
