The Corporation of the Town of Carleton Place is pleased to announce that we have received $76,900 in funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to rehabilitate the gymnasium floor in the Carambeck Community Centre.
The Carambeck gymnasium is used by residents of all ages and abilities and provides a venue for an assortment of social and physical activities including baby play groups, youth gym sessions, children's classes, and adult/senior sports. The existing tile flooring will be replaced with high-performance sport flooring which will enable more organizations to access recreation programs and create additional opportunities for safe play.
“This funding is a game changer for a highly used facility that was starting to show its age,” says Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place. “The vision for Carambeck was always to create a place where residents could gather and come together as a community, and I am looking forward to seeing the Centre utilized to its full potential as a result of the revitalization of this space.”
Work on the gymnasium floor will begin over the Christmas break this year in order to impact as few users as possible. Once the flooring is complete, an event will be planned for the new year to celebrate and give residents the opportunity to see the upgrade.
