Whereas, the National Day of Mourning has been recognized since April 28th, 1991 and is observed across Canada to pay our respects to the thousands of workers impacted by a workplace fatality, injury or suffered illness; and
WHEREAS, we honour the many families and friends who have been deeply affected by these tragedies; and
WHEREAS, every worker has the right to return home safe and sound at the end of each work day; and
WHEREAS, by working together with employers, workers and our health and safety partners, we can prevent worker injuries and deaths before they occur.
Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Toby Randell, Mayor of the Town of Carleton Place hereby proclaim April 28, 2024 as ‘National Day of Mourning’.
