CARLETON PLACE WINS - Voted BEST Small Town in the Ottawa Area

Congratulations Carleton Place, we officially won Chez 106's March Madness of Small Towns contest and were voted the best small town in the Ottawa area!

Out of 32 small towns, and multiple brackets, Carleton Place made it to the final champion round and beat Almonte, 56.66% to 43.34%. This is an exciting win since Almonte beat Carleton Place by a handful of votes last year.

Carleton Place Tourism would like to thank all the businesses that helped promote the contest and each and every participant who shared their community pride by voting! This has been a heartwarming acknowledgment of all the things we cherish about this town and the people in it. We also thank Almonte for their friendly competition, but this year, the spotlight is on Carleton Place!

The good news was shared on live radio this morning, with an exciting announcement! The Biggs & Barr Show on Chez 106 will be throwing a party in celebration, with a LIVE broadcast on May 4th in Carleton Place! Every Kid in Our Communities to Honour "Asset Builders"

The Every Kid in our Communities (EKIOC) Coalition is looking for nominations of organizations, businesses, and individuals who make a difference in the lives of children and youth in Leeds and Grenville - in other words they build assets! These “asset builders” will be recognized at a ceremony on Sunday June 2nd, 2024, at the Brockville YMCA.

The Every Kid Coalition is looking to identify organizations, businesses, and individuals who:

  • Show interest and invest time in children and youth
  • Inspire children and youth
  • Provide support to children and youth
  • Give children and youth a voice
  • Introduce children and youth to new ideas and experiences
  • Advocate for children and youth

Tawnya Boileau, Chair of EKIOC Developmental Assets Work Group explains: “We are so fortunate to live in a community where many organizations and individuals influence the lives of young people in a positive way. Our coalition wants to pay tribute to these “asset builders”.

The deadline for nominations is May 1st, 2024.  Submission forms are available online at the EKIOC website: www.everykid.on.ca
