The Carleton Place Town Hall will be closed today and NOT open to the public during our regular Friday hours of 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon, due to the significant episode of freezing rain expected to begin this morning. Town Hall is expected to reopen on Monday, January 29th with regular business hours (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
Even though Town Hall will be closed to the public, Staff will be working from home and all departments within this facility can still be reached via phone or email - www.carletonplace.ca/contactus
Payments Owing to the Town - For any payments owing to the Town, options include online or telephone banking, mailing a cheque to the Town Hall or dropping off a payment in the mail slot at the Police Station located at 15 Coleman Street. Town Hall does offer payment via credit card, however, there is a 3% service charge on the value of the payment to recover costs. Please call 613-257-6200 to use this service.
The Town has a web portal called Virtual Town Hall which enables residents to view tax and utility accounts online, register pets or renew pet licenses, and set up pre-authorized payments. Learn more and sign up at https://buff.ly/4aivnOG
Environment Canada has a Freezing Rain Warning in effect with significant ice accretion or build-up of 5 to 10 mm expected beginning early this morning, and ending this afternoon.
Environment Canada warns that surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break and utility outages may occur.
If the Town experiences an emergency, such as a power outage, information and updates will be shared via the Town’s website (www.carletonplace.ca), e-newsletter CP Scoop (www.carletonplace.ca/cpscoop), on the Lake 88.1 radio station, on social media, and on notice boards at the Pool (359 Bridge Street) and at the Arena (75 Neelin Street).
